MindTouch Minneopa (9.08) is commercial-centric release that was driven primarily by the development of content moderation inside MindTouch. Although the solution is available only for commercial customers, the fundamental building blocks that were utilized to drive these features are available in MindTouch Core.
Introduction
Minneopa is the latest family of releases from MindTouch. Unlike the Lyons release, the feature set and changes are rather tame - no crazy upgrade scripts this time around! This release focused less on paying down code debt, and more on exposing new building blocks for developers.
The most exciting new feature in Minneopa is the new import/export API. With this API, you can neatly package up full hierarchies of MindTouch pages which include files/images
Features
As a part of MindTouch's Collaborative Knowledge Base launch, the Minneopa release contained the content moderation capabilities. This feature allows multiple users to collaborate on a draft copy of a live page, which is then vetted by a moderator before it is published back into the live version of the site. This feature is only available in the commercial versions of MindTouch - find out more.
The editor received some love from us during this release, with the addition of some more FCKeditor plug-ins which help support more advanced content features. We've added definition list support inside the editor through an additional plug-in, as well as more table editing support (sortable tables, one click table creation, and better table settings). In order to build the content moderation components, we added a new feature called revision hiding. This feature allows revisions to be "hidden" by an administrator, so they are not public. This helps suppress discovery of revisions which clearly have vandalized content. Administrators can go in and "unhide" revisions later as well. This feature is available anytime you view the history of a page.
The most significant architectural piece in this release is the addition of import/export. Import/export allows you to create packages of MindTouch hierarchies and import them across instances or within each instance. This API is available in both Core and commercial versions - accessing this feature is available through a command line tool (Core + commercial), while a UI implementation is available in the Desktop Suite.
Integration with Kaltura video allows for the ability to collaborate around videos right in MindTouch! Sign-up for a Kaltura account through the control panel to enable this behavior - the Kaltura experience is launched by hitting the "video" icon in the editor.
9.08.1
The 9.08.1 release with 47 bug fixes (available October 29th, 2009) is a must-upgrade for all MindTouch installations. It contains security fixes for a couple of XSS holes, as well as a rather severe issue when the API key would get leaked through poor exception handling. It also contains some fixes to address some common complaints from users with regards to service startup issues. See the release notes below.
9.08.2
The 9.08.2 is the last stabilization release of the Minneopa family which has performance and security fixes. See the change log below.
Important Notes
The minimum requirement for running Minneopa will be Mono 1.9.1; we are deprecating build support on Mono for 1.2.2.1. This will not affect you if you are downloading our binaries directly.The minimum requirements to build MindTouch as of this release on Linux will be Mono 2.4.
