Installing on Windows

    Overview

    Install MindTouch using the Windows MSI executable

    Goal

    After completing this tutorial you will have MindTouch installed on Windows

     

    System Requirements (Click to Expand)

     

     

    Install MySQL

    Follow the MySQL installation instructions before installing MindTouch.

    Download MindTouch 

    Download the Windows Server 2003 or 2008 MSI from Sourceforge.

     

    Extract MSI File

    Once you have downloaded the MindTouch MSI file, extract it using an unzipping tool on your computer. Right click on the file and select Extract All..

    If you don't have an extraction tool, here are a couple that you can search for an install:

    • 7-zip
    • winzip
    • winrar

     

    Start the Installation

    Double click the MindTouch MSI file in the folder that was extracted and then follow these installation steps:

    1. Download the MindTouch MSI installation package, and double-click to launch. Click Next (1) to continue.

    Accept the Licensing Agreement

    1. Check the box next to "I accept the terms in the License Agreement".
    2. Click Next to continue.

    Select Installation Location

    1. Confirm the location for the installation destination. If necessary, change it to suit the environment.
    2. Click Next to continue.

    Confirm Installation Procedure

    1. Confirm that you wish to have MindTouch selected as the default site, and that you want the setup program to restart IIS. For most users, and for administrators running MindTouch alone on the web server, this option should remain checked.
    2. Click Install to proceed with the MindTouch installation.

    MindTouch will then run through and install the files necessary

    Complete the Installation

    1. If you wish to complete the web-based setup of MindTouch, leave this box checked.

     

    Web Installer

     

    When you load the IP address for the MindTouch install it will present you with the following web installer where you can click INSTALL next to the MindTouch product you want to install. In this documentation we will be selecting the MindTouch TCS (MindTouch 2010) installation.

    Clicking INSTALL next to MindTouch TCS (MindTouch 2010) will then present you with the following screen where you need to fill out the highlighted fields. Once you have filled out the form then click NEXT at the bottom of the screen.

    You will now see the configuration screen where you will need to specify the database settings. Once you have confirmed/changed then click NEXT

    You will now see the following page where you can fill out details about your install as follows. Once you have made the appropriate selections please select NEXT to proceed.

    This will then present you with an overview of your configuration. If anything needs to be changed you can click Edit next to the section. Otherwise continue by clicking INSTALL MINDTOUCH.

    This will then take you to the following page which confirms that a license has been sent to you in an email. When you receive the email, save the .xml file that is attached to a location on your computer that you can easily access for the next step. Click CONTINUE TO MINDTOUCH to then apply your license to your installation.

    This will then bring you to your Product Activation page in the Control panel where you will select Choose File to upload the xml license file that was emailed you.

    Then click Activate License which will then show you the following screen:

    You have now successfully installed MindTouch. Continue with our Setup and Configuration guide to get your MindTouch install ready for production.

    @hevers starting with 10.0.2, you can install MindTouch Core on Windows with the same installer that you can install 2010 or v10.

    The link to download the MSI installer no longer works. It is now VERY difficult to find the Windows installer on the site.
