MindTouch can be installed on Shared Hosting as long as MindTouch's dependencies are already in place on the shared hosting. Unfortunately the most critical dependency, Mono, typically isn't installed on Shared Hosting servers. You can review MindTouch's list of dependencies on the System Requirements to see if your Shared Hosting provider will support it.
Please feel free to add Shared Hosting providers to this page that do offer Mono in their environment.
