Copy Templates

    Table of contents
    No headers

One of the biggest stumbling blocks for a user new to MindTouch is copying templates from the MindTouch Developers Wiki to their own MindTouch installation so that they can take advantage of the MindTouch Community Shared Resources.  Below are 2 methods that I find best for copying templates, or even entire pages from one MindTouch Instance to another.  I apologize ahead of time for the low audio it seems that my microphone was giving me trouble and I did not catch it until after words.

Question:  How do I copy a template from the MindTouch Developers Wiki? (Method 1)

    Answer:

    • Find the Template/Extension Source Code Section.
    • Click "expand source" if needed.
    • In the top right of the source code section there are 3 icons; click the "View Source" icon.  This will open the source code in a new window.
    • Select all the text from the new window (CTRL-A) then copy it to the clipboard (CTRL-C).
    • Open Notepad or similar text editor and paste the information in (CTRL-V).
      • This step should be unnecessary but it will remove any hidden codes that can interfere with a template's operation.
    • Re-select all the text in your text editor (CTRL-A) and copy back to the clipboard (CTRL-C).
    • Create a new blank template on your own MindTouch installation under Templates.
    • Name the template appropriately (ensure you keep the "Template:" in front of the template name).
    • From the Style drop down menu select DekiScript to create a DekiScript Block.
    • Paste in the template code into the DekiScript Block (CTRL-V).
    • Save the template you're done.
