Enabling E-Mail Notification Upon Account Creation in Windows Vista
Due to restrictions placed by Microsoft upon Windows Vista (namely, the lack of an included SMTP server and the inability to natively use TLS), administrators who have installed MindTouch on Vista are limited to using an external SMTP server that does not require the use of TLS.
Enter SMTP E-mail Configuration
- Open up the Internet Information Services window (which can be found by clicking Start, then searching for Internet Information Services in the Search box). Browse down to the MindTouch site, and click on it.
- Double-click on the SMTP E-mail icon.
Configure SMTP Server Information
- In the center, enter in the fully-qualified domain name (FQDN) or the IP address of the SMTP server you will be using.
- If authentication settings are required, enter them here.
- Click Apply.
Restart the MindTouch Website
- Click on the MindTouch website.
- Click Restart.
