MindTouch 2009 Release Notes

MindTouch 2009 introduced some great new features into the MindTouch offering. Below you can find new features that have been added along with a brief overview of the functionality and links to documentation. Attach/Insert Image	A new editor feature available only in MindTouch 2009 is the Attach/Insert Image:This combines the steps of attaching images and embedding them into a MindTouch page into one function. When you click this button, you will be able to attach the image to the image gallery AND automatically add it to the editor where your cursor is placed. Tagging	In MindTouch 2009 tagging was impoved to ensure that tags are easier to apply and to manage, including auto lookup of already used tags in the system. Read the documentation for more details.	Tagging Documentation
Page Notifications	In MindTouch 2009, we introduced a new backend notifications API that enabled Page Notifications on the front end; this allows users to receive email notifications when changes occur to watched page(s) in the system. Page Properties	MindTouch 2009 includes a new addition to Page Properties that allows you to store properties specific to the site, user, and page. Currently, this is beneficial for developers of MindTouch, but in the future will be utilized for further customizations. Edit Summary	To help improve the context around edits, we added an Edit Summary at the bottom of the editor. Here you can add notes about the edit which will then be available in the version history. For more details about the Edit Summary click the documentation link to the right.	Edit Summary
Control Panel	With a lot of great feedback from the community, customers, and our usability testing, we once again revamped the Control Panel to make it easier to navigate and have access to the key administration features. WebDav Edit Links	With the release of MindTouch 2009, new WebDav integration has been enabled that allows for one click editing and saving of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents from MindTouch. This functionality is only available when accessing MindTouch through Internet Explorer or the Desktop Connector, and appears as an Edit link next to the document. When clicked, the document will open in the appropriate program. From there, you can edit and save the document, and it will attach it back to the MindTouch page as a version.	WebDav Documentation
Permissions Dialog	The Permissions dialog was improved in MindTouch 2009 to allow for more granular permissions. Read the documentation listed to the right to learn more.	Permissions Documentation

Diff Engine	MindTouch 2009 includes an update to the revision comparison engine which makes it easier to compare versions. Read more about the upgrade in the documentation listed to the right.	Version Documentation
