The "Site settings could not be loaded" error is an error that could be a few different things. Follow the troubleshooting steps below to resolve this issue.
The first thing to check when you receive this error is to see if the MindTouch service is running. Sometimes the MindTouch service can crash on Linux because of too many resources being used. To avoid this configure checkdeki on Linux. To restart the service, run the following commands (depending on your envrionment):
If you are running MindTouch on Linux or as a MindTouch VMware appliance, run the following command to restart the MindTouch service:
/etc/init.d/dekiwiki restart
If the MindTouch service wasn't running, you will get an output like this in the command line:
Stopping MindTouch Deki API: mindtouch.host.exe dekiwiki is not running Starting MindTouch Deki API: mindtouch.host.exe.
If you are running MindTouch on Windows, you will have to stop and start the MindTouch site in IIS which will in turn restart the MindTouch API.
If you receive the site settings error above, MindTouch will log an error in the api log about why it is unable to load the API. You can access the log files by following the tutorials for Linux and Windows. Within the logs, you'll likely see an exception about being unable to access a file or unable to access the database (to name a few possibilities). Once you have the API logs, submit a case through the support portal, and include the log. Support will then be able to diagnose where the conflict is occuring.
