Use a custom template for new user pages

    Table of contents
    No headers

Currently when a new user is added to MindTouch Deki, when they click on their My Page they will see a message like this:

This page was created just for you. You can use it to store your contact information, to-do list, or any other information you might want to share with other users.

If you'd like to customize the information that is prepopulated for User Pages do the following:

First create a new Template with the content that you'd like to be prepopulated on the User Pages.  You can create a Template by going to Tools -> Templates.  Once you have a Template then go to the Control Panel -> System Settings -> Configuration and add the following key value pair (replace the Template:Your_Template with the name of the Template you want to use):

    Key
    Value
    content/new-user Template:Your_Template

This will look like this in the Configuration settings:

Then click the Add Key button and the key will be added to your Configuration table.  Now when you add a new user to the system and they login and go to their My Page, they will see their User Page prepopulated with the Template that you have specified.  Note: This will not change the user page for pre-created users, it will only apply to users that are newly created in the system

This opens a lot of possibilities for adding dynamic customizations with widgets and DekiScript to offer your end users a more robust profile page.

@coreyg - And If I want to decide a default permisioning diferent than standad, I'm involved on a Public Web / Extranet / Intranet definition and I would like to define special permisioning for user pages. Excuse me, the same for templates. edited 04:15, 1 Feb 2010
