Upgrading MindTouch on Windows

Before moving ahead with the upgrade, backup MindTouch.

Backup MySQL

Bring up the Windows console and type the following with the substitutions as follows:

<user> - replace with username that you are accessing mysql with
<password> - replace with the password for the user
"C:\backups\wikidb.sql" - replace this with where you want the dump to be put.  You must create a backup directory first to save this to.

"C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\mysqldump" -R -u<user> -p --result-file="C:\backups\wikidb.sql" wikidb

After you run this it will ask for a password where you will enter your MySQL password

Backup Attachments

Copy the following folder to the backup directory:

C:\Program Files\MindTouch\MindTouch\data\files

Backup Service Storage

*Note:  This step is deprecated in MindTouch 10.x and newer, and should only be used for version 9.12.3, and below.  As of 10.x, notifications are stored within the database.

Copy the following folder to the backup directory

C:\Program Files\MindTouch\MindTouch\data\servicestate

Download the current stable version of the MindTouch MSI from the MindTouch Website. Once you have downloaded the file extract it and then launch the Mindtouch MSI.

When you start the MSI you will be presented with the following screen where you will select Next.

This will then show you the MindTouch End-User License Agreement that you have to accept. Once you accept it then click Next.

Now this will prevent you with the following screen which detects that MindTouch is installed and then prompts you to upgrade. Click Upgrade to continue.

This will then go through the upgrade process as seen here:

Next you will see the following screen which reviews the database changes to the system. If there aren't any errors then click Next. Otherwise contact MindTouch Support about the errors if you have a commercial support plan.

This will then show you the final screen that confirms the completion of the upgrade which is as follows. Click Finish to open your MindTouch and confirm that it was upgraded.
